2025 marked the 10th anniversary of Japan’s Corporate Governance Code. At this time, it is critical to ask:
What has changed, what hasn’t, and what must come next?
This session is designed for both investors and board directors who are navigating the evolving expectations of Japan’s governance landscape. We’ll be joined by a leader from the FSA’s Council of Experts and ICGN, alongside a seasoned Japan portfolio manager from Matthews Asia, to explore how far we’ve come—and what still needs to shift.
We will review investor expectations for the next decade with practical action steps for board directors. We’ll review FSA’s 2025 Action Program for Accelerating Corporate Governance Reform and examine key steps to move from box-ticking to strategic oversight. We’ll also review how investors are recalibrating their engagement approaches.
Expect a candid, cross-sector dialogue grounded in experience, insight, and a shared commitment to long-term corporate value in Japan.
